The best teen birthday parties in Richmond are active and competitive - not passive entertainment. Nerf battle tournaments ($149 all-day), escape rooms ($300+), and outdoor adventures top the list. Here are 10 options that'll actually get teens off their phones.
1.Nerf Battle Tournament
Not childish - tournament brackets, VIP Protection, and tactical team play. Teens play the most competitively. All-day at your location, co-ed friendly.
2.Escape Room Challenge
Brain teasers and teamwork. Breakout Games and Escape Room RVA are top picks. Best for groups of 4-8 per room.
3.James River Kayaking/Tubing
Adventure on the James. Riverside Outfitters runs group trips. Summer only, weather dependent.
4.Laser Tag
Dark arena battles. Exciting but expensive and limited to 1-2 hours. Less tactical than Nerf but more 'techy' atmosphere.
5.Bonfire + Backyard Games
Budget champion. Fire pit, s'mores, yard games, music. Low-effort but teens love the relaxed vibe.
6.Go-Kart Racing
K1 Speed indoor racing. Thrilling but very expensive per person. Short races with waits between turns.
7.Axe Throwing
Unique and memorable. Most venues require ages 14+. Fun for small groups (6-12). Hatchet House RVA is popular.
8.Outdoor Movie Night
Projector, blankets, snacks under the stars. Rent or DIY. Works great as a secondary activity.
9.Trampoline Park
Launch and Sky Zone. Some teens think it's juvenile, others love the dodgeball courts and ninja courses.
10.Volunteer + Celebrate
Community service project followed by food and fun. Meaningful, looks great on college apps, surprisingly popular with teens.
The Party They'll Actually Post About
Tournament brackets, tactical battles, and victory celebrations. Co-ed, competitive, and $149 for all-day play.
