Winter 2026-2027

Indoor Nerf Party Venues in Richmond: Where to Battle This Winter (2026-2027)

Cold weather doesn't cancel the battle, it just moves it inside. Rent an indoor space directly from a Richmond venue (confirmed rates from $50/hr), rent a Battle Kit ($149, 8 players) or Big Battle Kit ($249, 16 players) for the same day, and run the battle yourself. Here are five spaces you can book, what they cost, and how to pair them with a kit.

Updated October 2026. Prices checked against published venue rates.

Our best parks for Nerf parties guide covers spring through fall. This is the winter version, for parties, team building, youth groups and friend groups between November and March. Every venue below is a space you rent directly from the venue. We don't book, host at or partner with any of them.

    1. This Old Warehouse (Manchester)

This is the one kids will talk about for weeks. It's a 100-year-old masonry warehouse in Manchester, about 26,000 sq ft, and the basement looks like a video game level: a cave-themed main area covered in post-apocalyptic graffiti, plus old cinderblock produce cooler rooms with foam-coated walls.

Concrete floors and big support pillars give you natural cover before you even inflate a barrier. The basement windows have colored film and can be covered for a darker, moodier battle. A local LARP group uses the space regularly, so it's used to people running around in teams.

Price: Booked on Giggster, 2 hour minimum. Rates vary by date and group size, so check the listing for your date. See published rates (Giggster listing)

Best for: Tweens, teens and adult friend groups who want atmosphere.

    2. 10,000 sq ft sportsplex gym (Greater Richmond)

A wide-open gym floor is the blank canvas of indoor Nerf. Drop the barriers, set two bases at opposite ends, and you have a full arena with zero furniture to move.

There are 100 on-site parking spots, so drop-off and pickup stay painless. The 4 hour minimum sounds long, but it gives you time for setup, cake, a few rounds and teardown without watching the clock.

Price: Booked on Giggster, 4 hour minimum. Rates vary by date and group size, so check the listing for your date. See published rates (Giggster listing)

Best for: Birthday parties that want room to run, youth groups.

    3. Bangers & Dinks indoor pickleball

Indoor pickleball courts and permanent fencing at Bangers & Dinks, from its Giggster listing
    Photo: venue's Giggster listing

The Giggster listing describes a 25,000 sq ft space with a 200-person standing limit and 100 parking spots. Courts are lit, the space is climate controlled, and there's plenty of room for families to hang out between rounds.

One catch: the courts have permanent fencing. Ask the host how much open floor you'll actually get, then plan your barriers around the fences (they can even work as extra cover).

Price: $55/hr for a direct court rental. Giggster rates vary by date and group size, so compare both before booking. See published rates (Giggster listing)

Best for: Bigger groups who confirm the open floor first.

    4. City of Richmond rec center gyms

Neighborhood community centers like Randolph and Powhatan rent their gyms to the public. It's the classic school-gym battle: hard floor, high ceiling, bleachers or walls for parents to lean on.

City residents get the best rate. Non-city residents pay 30% more, so Henrico and Chesterfield families should factor that in. The city also lists a $40/hr staffing charge that may apply, so ask about it when you call. Call the booking line at (804) 646-0761 to check dates.

Price: $65/hr, 2 hour minimum (non-city residents pay 30% more; a $40/hr staffing charge may apply). See published rates (City of Richmond fee schedule)

Best for: City families who want a simple, familiar gym.

    5. University of Richmond Weinstein Center gym

If you need serious space, the Weinstein Center rents its courts individually. One court is plenty for a 16-player battle. All three courts turn it into a full tournament with multiple arenas running at once.

Pricing caps out, which helps for longer events: $300 max per court, or $1,000 max for all three.

Price: $50/hr per court, $300 max per court, $1,000 max for all 3 courts. See published rates (UR events and rental rates)

Best for: Team building, church youth nights, large group events.

    6. Richmond Elite Academy (Mechanicsville)

A straightforward gym option for families in Mechanicsville, Hanover and the East End, with a published hourly rate. They also list a separate venue rental option at $125/hr.

Two things to confirm when you reach out: the site footer is dated 2022, so ask whether the rates are current, and the gym size isn't listed, so ask for the floor dimensions. Contact richmondelite1@gmail.com.

Price: $75/hr, 2 hour minimum (venue rental option listed at $125/hr). Confirm current rates. See published rates (Richmond Elite Academy)

Best for: East End and Hanover families who want a simple gym.

    7. The Commons at U-Turn Sports (Scott's Addition)

A 150,000 sq ft indoor facility with four full basketball courts and three indoor turf fields, each 30 by 10 yards. It hosts team building and private events, and parking is free.

The turf fields could be one of the best indoor Nerf setups in town: big, open and soft underfoot. Pricing isn't published, so call Quinn Quash at (804) 358-2775 x28.

Price: Not published. Call (804) 358-2775 x28 for a quote. See published rates (U-Turn Sports phone)

Best for: Team building, big birthday groups, multi-arena events.

    8. St. Christopher's School athletic center

St. Christopher's rents its facilities to outside groups. The athletic center is 109,000 sq ft, with two gyms and a field house, so there's room for multiple battles at once.

No prices are posted. Email Rentals@stcva.org or use the school's rental intake form.

Price: Not published. Inquire at Rentals@stcva.org. See published rates (St. Christopher's rentals email)

Best for: Large groups, youth organizations, tournaments.

Before you book any venue, ask

    • Are foam dart games allowed?
    • Can we use a fog machine, or will it trip the smoke detectors?
    • Is there glass, like doors, windows or trophy cases, near the play area?

Giggster requires renters to carry liability insurance of at least $1M. If you don't already have coverage, a one-day event policy is an option.

How to book an indoor Nerf battle

    1. Pick a date (and a backup).
    2. Book the venue directly with the venue or through Giggster.
    3. Check kit availability for the same date on our booking page.
    4. Pick up or arrange delivery. Free pickup in central Richmond, or delivery for $50 to $125 depending on distance (up to 20 miles). The full process is on How It Works.

    Indoor tips

    • Room size: roughly 30 x 30 ft of open floor with about 10 ft of ceiling clearance.
    • Cover windows where you can. It protects glass and makes the battle feel more intense.
    • Fog machine check: confirm with the venue first. If in doubt, skip it.
    • Set barriers early: the pumps need an outlet. Plan about 20 minutes for the 8-player kit and 40 to 45 minutes for the Big Battle Kit. More in how long barriers take.
    • Water breaks: gyms get warm fast. Take a break between every round or two.

    Indoor Nerf battle FAQ

How much space do I need for an indoor Nerf battle?

Plan for roughly a 30 x 30 ft open space with about 10 ft of ceiling clearance. Gyms, warehouses and rec center courts all clear that easily.

Can I use the fog machine indoors?

Only if the venue says yes. Fog can trip smoke detectors, so ask the venue before your event. Both kits include a fog machine with fluid, and you can always leave it packed.

What's the cheapest indoor option in Richmond?

For city residents, a Richmond rec center gym at $65/hr with a 2 hour minimum is the cheapest confirmed rate: $130 venue + $249 Big Battle Kit = $379 for 16 players. Giggster venues like This Old Warehouse can come in lower, but their rates vary by date and group size.

Do I need insurance to rent an indoor venue?

Giggster requires renters to carry liability insurance of at least $1M. A one-day event policy is an option. City and university venues set their own rules, so ask when you book.

Do you book the venue for me?

No. You rent the space directly from the venue, then rent the kit from us for the same date. We do not partner with, host at or staff any of these venues.

How do I get the kit to the venue?

Free pickup from our central Richmond location, or delivery for $50 (within 5 miles), $75 (10), $100 (15) or $125 (20).

You pick the venue. We bring the armory.

Blasters, 1,000 to 2,000 foam darts, inflatable barriers and a fog machine with fluid. Winter dates may sell out.
